Our Doctors To provide the highest quality eye care, all of our doctors are board-certified to use diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceuticals for treating and managing eye diseases. They routinely upgrade their clinical knowledge and skills thru classes of continuing education. They are also members of the Optometric Association as well as their local optometric societies. Since his graduation, Dr. So has been continuously practicing family optometry and serving the Inland Empire area in the Southern California. Dr. So has special interest in dealing with complicated problems involving uses of contact lenses and eyewear. Through possessing excellent skills in clinical, analytical as well as communication, Dr. So successfully established and continuously grew his Montclair practice. In 2002, he acquired his second practice, the Main Place Optometry, located in Orange County, from a retiring optometrist, Dr. Sanford Ring, OD. Dr. So continuously strives for ethical excellence from performing a comprehensive thorough eye examination, to ensuring all patients understanding and receiving only the necessary and accurate recommended treatments thru the uses of eyewear, contacts, and eye exercises. His proactive mode of practicing optometry frequently brought up new options of treating his new patients with long standing problems, as well as discovered commonly neglected potential vision-threatening problems. It is his humorous, proactive & investigative nature allowing him to continuously ENJOY the challenges and processes of EACH eye examination he performs. His passion in optometry is easily identified and reflected from his commitment in delivering excellent eye care to every single patient he serves. His disbelief in performing an eye examination in a robotic or routine manner creates insights and excitement to both himself and his patients. It is this attitude that allows him to be capable of completing examinations recognized by most of his patients as one of their best examinations ever received. Dr. So resides in the Pomona area with his wife, Amy, and two children. He believes in simple peaceful life styles. He equates “a good day” simply with a “good run” in the morning, a “good lunch” in the afternoon, and a few laughs during the day with his co-workers & his family. He enjoys swimming, cycling as well as marathon running. Despite of his poor performance in completing his first LA marathon in 2001, his ultimate goal still is to become one of the finishers of the well-known “Iron-Man” race conducted annually in Hawaii. It is his goal, and obviously to him a next to impossible one. But his strong sense of responsibility & endurance, reflected from his high level of dedication and commitment to his career and patients, will inevitably allow him to accomplish this goal. .......................................................................................................................................... Dr.
So came to Southern California from Hong Kong in 1987.
He earned his first Bachelor of Science degree with high honors
in Biological Science at the University of California, Irvine in
1991. After acquiring valuable hands-on experience thru working
with various skillful local optometrists and opticians, he decided
to pursue his optometric career and matriculated in 1992 at the
School of Optometry at the University of California, Berkeley. While
he received his second Bachelor of Science degree in Vision Science,
served 2 consecutive terms as the president for his class, he also
graduated from the School of Optometry at Berkeley in 1995 with
numerous awards and honors for clinical and optical excellence.
He was also selected as the 1995 national student winner of the
Varilux Lenses Award.
